The Faces of Benedict’s Plantation
Shirley Deluzain – Owner
Shirley has continued the tradition of excellence at Benedict’s Plantation Restaurant, but sadly without her beloved partner and the restaurant’s namesake, Benedict “Benny” Deluzain. Reflecting on the legacy which Benny has left, Shirley says, “Being married to Benny was my inspiration. He taught generosity and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for someone who needed help.”
With seemingly boundless energy, Shirley Deluzain serves her community in countless ways. She was a Founding Member of the Board of Directors for the Youth Services Bureau and organized the initial Chef Soiree fundraising event. She has served as the first woman President of the Louisiana Restaurant Association and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Children’s Advocacy Center and Host for Hospice. In 2005 Shirley Deluzain was recognized for her many contributions to the community when she was given the “Angel Among Us“ Community Volunteer Award.
